What a good, fun, weekend. I needed that. A few random, fun, funny, happy things...
*Friday happy hour and dinner with the MC girls - good women. And someone fell down who was NOT ME!!!!!!!!! : )
*Daddy's retirement party yesterday, which was interesting, and at the nicest, most beautiful house. It was very good of his staff to host it and cool to hear how well they think of him.
* Finding lots of good, cheap, pretty clothes for work and for play.
*Hearing "Spending My Time" by Roxette in the restroom at Taipei Tokyo and thinking, for a second, "Underrated?" ; )
* Random encounters with elderly women at the mall:
First, the cool one:
I'm scrounging through the 70 percent off rack at Hecht's, most of it crap...A voice behind me says, "'SCUSE ME, COMING THROUGH BEHIND YOU!" I turn around, and turns out the voice came from a lady in a wheelchair being pushed by her daughter/granddaughter/whatever. I get myself out of the way, saying "I'm so SORRY!" like I just poured boiling water on her head.
"Don't worry. Ya can't see behind you," sayeth the little lady in the chair. True dat.
Second, the skeevy one:
I'm in the dressing room, attempting a couple of unfortunate skirts and one smashing ten dollar sweater, when I hear a girl asking someone's opinion of her outfit. Then, I hear an older's woman's squeaky voice, saying, "OOOOHHHHH, that looks - I HAVE to say this - SEXY, my dear. I mean, it shows off all of your FASHIONABLE points." Mumblemumblemumble. "It was MADE for your figure."
Fashionable points? Barf. It would have been better if she'd said DEAD sexy, and then I would have had a really good reason to open the door and check out the scene.
* Seeing the man in the polo shirt, tennis shoes, and a BLACK PLEATED SKIRT THAT WAS NOT A KILT strolling through King Farm. Rock on.
* Brunch with K at the Parkway. Excellent.
*SUNSHINE AND PRETTY CLOUDS AND PRETTY CLOUDS AND SUNSHINE both days.
* Some downtime in the cafe with some article ideas and a cafe mocha.
*The old man with all the trash in his low-ridin' Grand Am at the Parkway. : )
*AN A!!!!!!!!! : )
*Ben Folds' new cd "on sale" for $15.99 at Borders! ON SALE! They drink a special kind of KoolAid at that place, I tell ya.
*Starting the list of excellent summer books.
*Making my South Park icons...
*FAMILY GUY!
Happy me.
