Yesterday I learned that "pixel" is short for "picture element" and not some mysterious free-standing term that I've just been blithely tossing around for years without once investigating what the hell it really meant?
Although I did recently learn due to circumstances beyond my control involving an exam question in my online journalism class that JPG is short for "Joint Photographic Experts Group," which is itself a committee that I imagine as the politburo of digital files.
I'll let you figure out "tif" and "gif" all on your own, thus concluding a descent into geekiness unparalleled in recent memory.
