This was the first thing I saw when I pulled into North Myrtle Beach at 2:30 a.m. today.
I had to stop and shoot it, because as road-tired as I was and afraid the beach police would stop me for loitering because they were bored, I thought I was hallucinating at first and then it seemed like a special message from the universe, just for me, and I wanted to capture it.
It's a message that I'm not really sure how to interpret, but all the same, I enjoy it, so I don't really want to know if they're a special kind of boogie board or flip-flop or hermit crab. They're just rainbows, totally on sale.
I love vacation.
I also love rainbows. They're one of my things.
This morning my father made rum runners (we may well not be like your family. Some dads make coffee, but he did make fried potatoes and cut cantaloupe in addition to making drinks stronger than that one you're holding - PUT IT DOWN IT'S ONLY NOON WTF?- so let's just look at it as extra?) and blasted The Band really loud really early. The Weight is a life-defining song for me and it unexpectedly put the appropriate front bookend on this, a week that when I look back on my life will be one of the most important things in it, that just happens to happen every year.

What a great rainbow picture! (and I wish my dad made Rum Runners! I'm jealous :-) )

We generally do Pawley's Island down there. I love it. It feels like coming home to me. Hope you have a great week.
