Deb

I love this. I don't think she asked for advice (because she said what she wanted to do) but reassurance/empowerment/a permission slip. We would have lively days, I imagine, if we could remember that said or unsaid, that's what most people need, to be reassured against fear, guilt and shame that their way is perfect. It's cool that she asked you--makes me wonder if you are transmitting some awesome vibe following your own move towards freedom.

Sarah

She told you she thought she should take it and you reassured her. That is what she was looking for. Maybe she didn't have anyone else to talk to. I think it is awesome. I also think you look honest.

Also, everything that Deb just said.

Grace

This is such a great story. It just sort of makes my whole morning. I love it when things work out, you know, just kind of click like that.

And I agree that you look honest, as far as that goes.

Stimey

I actually really love that sort of random short interaction with strangers. I'm glad you could be that person for her.

Your story reminded me of The Alchemist and was just what I needed to get me past this writing hurdle I am currently facing. Your writing inspires me to write and reminds me of the importance of writing consistently, without fear. Perhaps honesty is not what the woman in the parking lot saw in you, rather the sparkle that enters your eyes when the heavy weights are removed.

Love, love, love this interaction. I think it's especially cool that you were open to listening and responding to her.

Cheney

I think that is awesome. That woman was probably looking for a quick and dirty (but honest) answer. If you'd considered it too much, she probably would not have walked away feeling like she got what she needed.

I love every last word of this post.

And I have nothing wiser to say than: Thank you.

(But really, thank you for writing these words and these thoughts and this heart down.)

Maggie

An awesome story, and well told. I think you did good ;)

Niki

This is so wonderful. I've been that girl before- she was having a moment and you helped her through it. Awesome.
